The District Port of Rendsburg has been an important hub in the region since 1896 and has constantly developed ever since. Today, powerful cranes and handling facilities are on hand along a 1-km-long dock, enabling rapid loading and unloading of ships with a load capacity of up to 20,000 t. The District Port of Rendsburg is operated by WFG Infrastruktur GmbH and is extremely important due to its direct location on the Kiel Canal. It is the main supplier of building materials, agricultural products and energy in the region.
